Openers are where Partridge Door Company began. In November 1979, we opened as Partridge Door Opener Service, a business built to sell and service electric garage door openers. Within weeks, Alliance Manufacturing, then the maker of Genie openers, established us as an original Genie Authorized Installing and Servicing Dealer. We’ve kept that role ever since.
More than four decades later, opener repair and installation is still central to what we do, and we now sell and install Genie, LiftMaster and Linear openers, and we service and repair garage door openers and motors of all makes and models in Clinton, Jackson and nearby.
Opener repair
An opener is a combination of electronics and mechanical parts, and parts wear out. We repair:
- Openers that hum but don’t move the door. This is often a stripped drive gear. We stock gear kits for LiftMaster, Sears and Chamberlain openers.
- Doors that reverse or won’t close. The cause is usually the photo-eye safety sensors. We stock safety sensors and can realign or replace them.
- Remotes and keypads that stopped working. We stock LiftMaster, Genie and Linear remotes and keypads and program them to your opener.
- Worn drive components, limit and force settings, and logic boards. We carry all LiftMaster, Genie and Linear parts.
Before we work on an opener, we check the door itself. If a spring is broken or the door is out of balance, the opener will keep failing no matter how many parts we replace. → Broken Spring Replacement
New opener installation
When an opener is old, unreliable or missing modern safety features, replacing it is often the better investment. We’ll help you choose:
- Genie. We’ve installed Genie since our first year. The original Genie openers used a screw-drive design that left out the chain and most of the gears, belts and pulleys found in other machines. Fewer parts means fewer failures, and that reliability is why we’ve recommended Genie for decades.
- LiftMaster. A broad range of residential openers with a variety of horsepower levels and drive systems, including wall-mount models, plus accessories for convenient home access.
Many current Genie and LiftMaster models offer Wi-Fi smart control through Aladdin Connect (Genie) or myQ (LiftMaster). Learn more on our Genie and LiftMaster pages.
- Linear. Linear PRO Access is a professional-installer brand covering garage door openers, gate operators, entry systems and remote controls.
Installation cost depends on the opener model and drive type, features like Wi-Fi or battery backup, and whether wiring or a new outlet is needed. We’ll match the opener to your door’s size and weight, install it, set the force and travel limits, align the safety sensors, program your remotes, and show you how everything works.
Commercial operators
Businesses need operators built for repeated cycles every day. We install LiftMaster and Genie commercial door operators on sectional, rolling steel and roll-up doors. → Commercial Garage Doors

Garage door opener FAQ
Do you fix openers you didn’t install?
Yes. We service and repair openers of all makes and models, carry parts for LiftMaster, Genie and Linear, and stock gear kits for LiftMaster, Sears and Chamberlain.
Can you program a new remote for my opener?
Yes. We stock LiftMaster, Genie and Linear remotes and keypads and program them to your opener. Call ahead with your opener’s brand and model so we can confirm compatibility.
Should I repair or replace my opener?
If it’s a simple part like a gear, a sensor or a remote, repair usually makes sense. If the opener is very old, keeps failing, or lacks modern safety reversing features, we’ll recommend a replacement and explain why.
Which opener brand do you recommend?
We’ve been an authorized Genie dealer since 1979 and believe in its reliability. We also install LiftMaster and Linear, and we’ll help you choose based on your door and the features you want.
What’s the average cost to repair a garage door opener?
It depends on the problem. A remote, sensor alignment or gear kit is a smaller job than a logic board or motor. Call (601) 372-4874, describe what the opener is doing, and we’ll explain what to expect.
Are Genie and LiftMaster compatible?
The openers work with any properly balanced door, but their remotes and keypads aren’t interchangeable. A Genie remote won’t program to a LiftMaster opener, and the reverse is also true. Some universal remotes work with both.
What are common garage door opener problems?
The most common are an opener that hums but doesn’t move (often a stripped gear), a door that reverses (usually the safety sensors), remotes that stop working, and an opener straining because a spring is broken.
Is your work covered by a warranty?
Yes. All of our products and services come with a 1-year warranty, followed by the manufacturers’ warranties.
