In a Mississippi summer, an attached garage can get much hotter than the outside air. The heat soaks into the rooms next to it and makes your air conditioner work harder. An insulated garage door is one of the simplest ways to keep the garage cooler, make the door quieter and make it stronger. Partridge Door Company installs insulated garage doors for homes and businesses across central Mississippi.
Insulated residential garage doors
We’re an authorized dealer for Amarr, Clopay, C.H.I. and Wayne Dalton, and each offers insulated steel doors in a range of styles, from raised-panel to carriage house designs. → New Garage Doors
What you get with an insulated door:
- A cooler garage. Insulation slows heat moving through the door. In practice, a garage with an insulated door usually stays cooler in summer and warmer on winter mornings.
- A quieter door. Insulated doors are layered, so they rattle less and dampen street noise.
- A stronger door. A door with foam bonded between two steel skins resists dents better than a single-layer door.

Polystyrene vs. polyurethane
Garage doors are usually insulated with one of two materials:
- Polystyrene. Rigid foam panels fitted into the door sections. A solid, affordable step up from an uninsulated door.
- Polyurethane. Foam injected between the steel skins, where it expands and bonds to them. It usually delivers a higher R-value for the same thickness and makes the door stiffer and quieter.
What R-value means
R-value measures how well a material resists heat flow. Higher numbers mean better insulation. Manufacturers publish R-values for each door model, and they calculate them in different ways, so compare doors from the same manufacturer where you can. We’ll show you the published R-values for the models you’re considering. Remember that the door is only part of the picture. Worn bottom seals and side weatherstripping let heat in around even a well-insulated door, so we check and replace weather seals as part of the job.
Insulated commercial and rolling doors
For businesses, we install:
- Insulated commercial sectional doors for shops, warehouses and temperature-sensitive spaces. → Commercial Overhead Doors
- Insulated rolling steel doors where a coiling door is the better fit. → Rolling Steel Doors
- Insulated rolling sheet doors for metal buildings and climate-controlled storage. → Self-Storage Doors
Service area

Insulated garage door FAQ
Does an insulated garage door make a difference?
Yes, especially for an attached garage. An insulated door slows heat moving into the garage, so the garage and the rooms next to it stay more comfortable. Insulated doors are also quieter and resist dents better.
Is an insulated garage door worth it?
For an attached garage, a garage you work in, or a room above the garage, it usually is. If your garage is detached and used only for storage, an uninsulated door may be enough. We’ll talk through how you use the space.
What is the best insulation for a garage door?
Injected polyurethane usually gives the highest R-value for its thickness and makes the door stiffer. Polystyrene is a good, more affordable option. Both are a big improvement over an uninsulated door.
Can a roll-up door be insulated?
Yes. We install insulated rolling steel doors and insulated rolling sheet doors. An insulated sectional door usually seals and insulates better than a rolling door, so we’ll help you choose based on the opening and how you use it.
Can you add insulation to my existing door?
Add-on insulation kits exist, but they don’t match a factory-insulated door, and they add weight that the springs may not be set up for. If you’re adding weight, have the springs checked and adjusted. → Spring Repair
Is there a warranty?
Yes. Our products and services come with a 1-year warranty, followed by the manufacturers’ warranties.
