Why choose the Amarr Amarr by Design

Nothing looks quite like a real wood carriage door. Amarr by Design is built by craftsmen from real cedar, Red Grandis or mahogany over an insulated core, and you can choose one of the popular designs or hand us a drawing of your own. Wood does ask more of you here in Mississippi, and we’ll be upfront about the finishing and upkeep it needs.

  • Handcrafted wood, made in America
  • Popular styles such as Sutcliff, Roberts, Easton, Lowry, Preston and Terry, or a fully custom design
  • Wood + polystyrene + wood, 3″ thick, R-9.0
  • Square or arched top sections with 1- to 8-lite windows; optional wire-brush distressing

Design options: designs, colors and glass

Wood choices are Incense Cedar, Clear Vertical Grain Cedar, Red Grandis and Mahogany, with paint-grade options as well. Trim overlays come with several edge profiles, and decorative hardware completes the carriage look. Glass can be double-strength or insulated.

  • ClearFull view and the most daylight.
  • ObscureTextured glass that blurs shapes; light in, details hidden.
  • FrostA soft, even white haze. Daylight in, privacy kept.
  • Dark TintDarker glass that cuts glare; sleek and more private by day.

Construction, insulation and specs

A 3″ sandwich of wood, polystyrene and wood. Doors ship unfinished, so they must be stained or painted on all sides before installation. Plan to refinish the exterior every few years, more often on south and west faces. See how door insulation works on our insulated garage doors page.

Amarr Amarr by Design FAQ

Do wood garage doors hold up in Mississippi humidity?

They can, with a complete finish on all six sides before installation and regular upkeep. If you’d rather not maintain wood, look at Carriage Court or Classica.

Can I design my own Amarr by Design door?

Yes. Sketch the design you want, and we’ll send it to Amarr for a custom build.

Does the door come stained?

No. It ships natural and must be stained or painted before installation. We can recommend finishers.

Which wood should I choose?

Cedar is lighter and naturally weather-resistant. Mahogany and Red Grandis have a richer, denser grain. We’ll show you samples.
